Most snails are hermaphrodites with both a penis and vagina located right next to their face. What a coincidence, so does Ryan Reynolds.
Film #150 of 2013
Director: David Soren Cast: Ryan Reynolds [Turbo], Paul Giamatti [Chet] & Michael Peña [Tito]
Plot: A freak accident might just help an everyday garden snail achieve his biggest dream: winning the Indy 500. Source IMDB.com
Hipster Review: DreamWorks Animation Turbo is so alluring because it combines a light, inspirational feel good plot for the kids and the sheer adrenaline of auto-racing for the dads…it’s downright cute without trying too hard and the personalities of these spirited garden snails are first-class as well as its voice talent – best casting I’ve heard in years. “You certainly have the skills to pay the bills. If snails had to pay bills, that is.” Whiplash
- Sucked into a Chevy drag racer, injected with nitrous oxide
- French-Canadian Indy 500 champion Guy Gagne was a terrific foe
- Big Wheels, blinking shells, going viral, ‘tuck and roll’ and Ken Jeong as the little old lady
- The snails getting snatched up by the swooping crows
- Smooth Move (Snoop Dogg), Whiplash (Samuel L. Jackson), Skidmark, Burn and White Shadow – all excellent characters
Biggest Surprise: It’s easy to appreciate the burning passion of Turbo and his obsession with speed.
Biggest Let Down: It’s not as entertaining as the heavy hitting animations of the past, my daughter was getting a little restless towards the end.
Does the guy get the hot girl in the end? Well Turbo’s brother Chet is mistaken for a female, and snails are hermaphrodites after all.
Worth a Blu-ray purchase? To keep my daughter busy for a couple hours, absolutely.

What Tweeters are saying:
So the movie Turbo is about a snail that races against cars in the Indy 500? Sorry, but that would never happen. Pass.—
